Now that we’ve moved the company to Santa Barbara, California, we felt that it was fitting to find an older home that would be a good candidate for a single family Passive House retrofit project. Today, we finally resolved the last of the contract issues, so we can now move forward with the planning process. I’ve heard that any type of building project can be challenging within the city limits of Santa Barbara, so it will be interesting to see how the process unfolds. This particular house has a great location, with awesome views of the city and the Pacific ocean. The house itself is not much to look at and in addition to an energy retrofit, it will need major cosmetic updates. The roof is only thing that has ever been updated since it was built in 1971. Even the windows and appliances are original to the house. Can’t wait to see the transformation happen!!
